As a derivative of sugar factory a distillery was set up in 1989, which utilises the molasses to convert it into valuable industrial alcohol, the capacity of the distillery being more than 30000 litres/ day. The distillery may diversify into the production of "Absolute Alcohol". This will in turn fetch increased revenue to the farmers.
